Lil Discourse

New Zealand is celebrating homegrown artists for New Zealand Music Month, and here at Discourse, so are we.

Below are a pair of New Zealand artists that we think you will definitely enjoy.

CORAL

Coral Pitcher is a Hamilton, New Zealand based dark caberet rock singer songwriter with a charismatic musical style that is all her own. Her original music holds a sense of blues rock with a hint of soul, giving it a distinct sound.

Coral has a natural vocal talent that will leave you in awe, performing live at many events and venues around the country and Waikato region.

I was introduced to Coral and her music at her recently held annual NZ Music Month Showcase, where she led an absolutely stellar performance backed by The Faithfuls.

Growing up winning vocalist competitions at school regionally and becoming a semi finalist in 2008s New Zealand’s got talent, Coral has made a name or herself and built up a reputation for being an incredibly talented woman.

City Of Souls

City Of Souls are an Auckland, New Zealand based melodic, alternative rock project consisting of;

Marcus Powell, guitar (Blindspott / Blacklistt)
Trajan Schwencke, guitar & vocals (Cold By Winter / In Dread Response)
Richie Simpson, vocals (New Way Home)
Steve Boag, guitar (In Dread Response / Blacklistt)
Daniel Insley, bass (Soulstate)
and Corey Friedlander, drums (In Dread Response / 8 Foot Sativa / Fornax Chemica).

The band has a gorgeous sound with a fire and energy that makes them unique. Their music carries a sense of calm that brings forth emotive energy before explosive melodic choruses.

After touring with names like Devilskin, Villiany and Halestorm, rocking out on the main stages of HomeGrown Festival, and opening for British metalcore giants Bring Me The Horizon earlier this year, City Of Souls have definitely made their mark.
